Desparate to have a place out of the dirt to sit outside and enjoy the air and the landscape, Dixie designed a little patio area beside the back door and overlooked by the kitchen window. She settled on rustic pavers as being the low cost, low level of expertise solution.
After several days of laying pavers, the patio was ready for our patio furniture (previously deck furniture) we had dragged from Maryland. A trip to Home Depot for some river rock, potting soil, and plants, and with more stoop labor, she finished "dressing" the patio. It's now an island of civility in an otherwise unfinished and rugged yard - a place to enjoy a cup of tea and a good book. Having this area gives us hope that our future projects such as putting in a lawn and building front and back porches will also greatly improve our homestead's enjoyability.
Sorry to say, the patio builder was too exhausted each day to get "in progress" pictures, but below are some shots of the finished product.
